Kyle Elder, a middle-aged loser, inherits the Toll House, a Vermont inn, from a father he has never met.
The bizarre events at the inn, including visiting nuns and a dead guest, are interwoven with Kyle’s childhood memories of his lesbian mother and their exotic pets.
